Internet Exchange to Launch European Operations

The Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX, Westminster, CO, USA), an online trading exchange for the healthcare industry, has announced the launch of European operations, to take place during the second quarter of 2001. Posted on 15 Jan 2001
Initially, GHX plans to focus on Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, with rapid expansion across Europe by the end of 2001. Headquarters will be in Brussels, Belgium, with local offices in each country of the operation. Eugene Dorff will serve as European general manager.
GHX utilizes Internet technology to integrate hospitals and medical suppliers, thereby improving efficiencies and adding value throughout the supply chain. The exchange provides single-source ordering and tracking for both medical and nonmedical products.
The company, founded in March 2000, now comprises more than 50 supplier members. Equity members include such companies as Johnson & Johnson, GE Medical Systems, Baxter International, Medtronic, and Tyco International.
