A blood gas analyzer that provides accurate comprehensive test menus for blood gas and pH has been upgraded with version 2.0 software.Posted on 08 Oct 2007
The analyzer called the Rapidlab 1200, is designed for the critical care laboratory and measures blood analytes that are useful in assessing a patient's overall respiratory and renal status; namely sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, glucose, and lactate.
Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics (Tarrytown, NY, USA) has announced the worldwide availability of the version 2.0 software for its Rapidlab 1200 series blood gas system. The new software will be a required upgrade for all existing customers and included on all future Rapidlab 1200 systems.
The version 2.0 software builds on the performance and technology of the Rapidlab 1200 system by adding many new capabilities that can enhance patient care, including fully customizable panels for ease-of-use with frequently run profiles. Furthermore, quality control (QC) performance is monitored and tracked through extensive QC routines that have been added to the Rapidlab 1200 base unit software to facilitate regulatory compliance.
In addition, on-line troubleshooting guidance helps to pinpoint and resolve fluidic difficulties quickly, and when coupled with the improvements to the calibration sequences, the analyzer is in the ‘ready' state to deliver patient results quickly and accurately.
"In the critical care environment, immediate access to crucial patient results is essential to making quality therapeutic decisions,” said Arnd Kaldowski, senior vice president, POC (Point-of-Care} Business, Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics. "This new version 2.0 software adds new capabilities to the Rapidlab 1200 system, enabling our customers to operate their blood gas diagnosis even more effectively. With this new release the strong performance of the Rapidlab 1200 platform, offering a blood gas system that delivers fast, reliable patient results that meet the demands of today's laboratory, is elevated even further.”
